ENTER THE REALM OF THERESE RENÉE YOUNG
The "artist", is a loaded term used to describe who Therese is. She's multifaceted and uses all of her talents to fufill her needs as a creator, practictioner, and demonstrator of the arts. Labeling her only as an actress or writer...stage manager, etc. would place limits on her abilities. "Artist" describes who she is fully, for since 2015, Therese has been laying her roots in the performing arts community in the "Second City". She is an alumni of both the College of Dupage and University of Illinois at Chicago theatrical and music programs. She has been increasing her knowledge in performance through experiences with mediums such as film, theatre, radio and music, as she participates in varied opportunities throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. In 2017, she was part of the 24-Hour Theatre Project held at Laugh Out Loud Theatre, hosted by Eclectic Full Contact Theatre. There, she and five other playwrights rose to the challenge and wrote scripts overnight that were staged before the public the next evening. She later made her professional theatrical debut as Corin/Hymen in the same company's presentation of Shakespeare's As You Like It, at the Athenaeum Theatre in March of 2018. She has narrated/voiced characters for the radio serial on WCGO AM/Twitch and now podcast with Eclectic Full Contact Theatre named The Shade and is a vocal artist with the company Voquent out of London, if you desire to hear her work. Not known to shy away from the whimsical, she brought to life a fairy-god bee in the original character of "Buzz the Bee" for the Academic Center for Excellence at UIC, where voice-over, green screen, and humor was turned into a student "how-to" film. Therese has taken ballet and has certified in Unarmed Stage Combat, Broadsword and Rapier and Dagger with the Society of American Fight Directors, earning her the designation of Actor Combatant. She received her first copyright from the Library of Congress for her poetry chapbook and is looking forward to publishing soon. To date, she has stage managed two productions, with one being an adaptation of Anton Chekov's Three Sisters for New Place Theatre. She's recently choreographed the fight scenes for New Place Theatre's Macbeth. Her talent is not limited to performing arts, as she owns her own business as a licensed esthetician and cosmetologist. She's ambitious and motivated, but not without a purpose. Being a multi-faceted person, she knows that if one is talented in more than one discipline, that they can wisely utilize those skill sets at different times when the others are not in use. "You don't need to sacrifice or let your other skills go as you use your other skills; at any given time I have three of my skills in operation", she states. Therese is a passionate artist, who is enthused to continue her work as she goes abroad to Europe this summer to continue her life, love and artistic pursuits.
Good day, good evening, hello, hi, wherever you are! So glad you've taken the time to find me here and that you've gotten this far. Since you have, I have a few important things that I'd really like to share with you. Great! I've been an artist, all of my life. I began in a strong language arts program as a primary student, which flourished into poetry writing by age 11. By high school, I became a vocalist both inside and outside the school. I paired my vocal talents with fledgling acting skills that landed me a principal role in a production my senior year of high school. All of this displayed promising attributes that I would summon later as an older adult.
Throughout my adulthood, I have performed or directed performing arts in one form or another, and most recently I've decided to fully commit to it. Out of every profession I have worked in, performing arts has been the most fulfilling and life-altering of them all. I am proud to be an artist and I hope that when you view my works, that you enjoy what you are viewing as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thanks for stopping by. Please continue to swing by for updates of new projects and exciting undertakings that I perpetually find myself involved in.
See you soon!
